Hi, I'm Josh — and AKI EDC started with me, fidgeting.

When the fidget spinner craze took off, I grabbed one like everyone else. Most people put theirs in a drawer a month later. I fell down the rabbit hole.

The deeper I went, the more I loved it the click, the weight, the little bit of calm in your hand. But I ran into a problem: I couldn't actually find fidgets I liked. So much of what was out there felt cheap, hollow, or just boring. I wanted pieces that were satisfying, well-made, and a little bit unique. When I couldn't find them, I started hunting them down myself.

That hunt became AKI EDC.

What I actually do

I'll be straight with you: I don't manufacture these. What I do is find the good ones and that's harder than it sounds.

The market's broken at both ends. On one side, there's a flood of cheap junk rattly builds, weak magnets, stuff that breaks in a week. On the other, the genuinely great pieces are often priced so high they feel out of reach. Finding something that's both well-made and fairly priced turned out to be the hard part.

So that's the gap I set out to fill, and it's why I'm genuinely picky. Every fidget and EDC piece I carry, I've personally tested carried it, clicked it, spun it, lived with it for a while. If I don't love it, if the quality's off, or if it doesn't hold up, it doesn't make the cut. I've turned away plenty of products for exactly those reasons.

The result is a small, curated lineup I actually stand behind quality that's worth it, at a price that isn't ridiculous. The stuff I'd want in my own pocket.

There's a real person here

When I started, I was on my own figuring all this out. I remember wishing there was someone who'd been down the rabbit hole already someone who could point me to the good stuff and actually answer a question when I had one.

So that's who I try to be for you. When you message AKI EDC, you're talking to me not a bot, not a ticket number that disappears. You spent your hard-earned money, and if anything ever goes sideways with an order, I want you to know a real person is on the other end who'll make it right.

That's also why every order goes out with a handwritten note. It's a small thing, but it's my way of saying there's a human behind this who cares — and if it puts a smile on your face when you open the package, even better.

The part I didn't see coming

Here's what caught me off guard.

I started AKI EDC for people like me anyone who loves a good fidget or a well-made EDC gadget. But as the reviews came in, I kept hearing something I hadn't expected: customers with ADHD, and folks in the autism community, telling me these pieces genuinely helped them focus, settle, and feel good. I have close friends in that community, so it meant a lot to realize the thing I'd built for the love of it was actually helping people in a real way.

That's become one of the things I'm proudest of. It wasn't the plan when I started — but it's something I'd love to keep doing more of.

Where things stand

I started AKI EDC at the beginning of 2025. Since then it's grown to 400+ orders and 130+ five-star reviews — real people, real feedback, and the thing that keeps me going.
